The former Silvia School in Fall River, which was severely damaged by a fire in 2025, is set to be fully demolished in early March 2026. The Cordeiro development group, which acquired the property for $205,000, plans to replace the school with a six-story apartment building featuring 49 market-rate units. This new development aims to cater to young professionals and empty-nesters in the downtown area.

The demolition will clear the remaining structures on the property, allowing construction of the new apartments to begin immediately afterward. The building will include a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, with plans to seek a zoning variance for parking to accommodate future developments nearby. The site has a history of neglect and failed redevelopment attempts, culminating in the fire that rendered the school a total loss.
